Sifu Wong Cheung is credited with spreading Yau Kung Moon Kung Fu to the United States. He was born in Chun-Hen village, Chao-Tsiu County in Toi-Shan, Kwong-Tung. In 1955, he studied Yau Kung Moon's internal system for a period of time under Sifu Hsia Hon Hung. Because he was young and not interested in internal training, Sifu Wong Cheung went to study the external Yau Kung Moon system under Sifu Hsia Kuo Chang.

While Sifu Wong Cheung is the third generation pupil of Sifu Hsia Kuo Chang, physician C. C. Chan is the first pupil of Sifu Hsia Kuo Chang in the medical field. Together, they became important assistants to Sifu Hsia. Before immigrating to the United States, Sifu Wong Cheung taught at the Bai-Tat High School and the Sing Tak Kin Academy of Physical Fitness in Hong Kong.

In America, he became acquainted with Bill Lee and was soon on his way to teach Yau Kung Moon Kung Fu and the art of Lion Dancing. He was the first to extend such teaching overseas. His top students include Sifu Lok Sang Lee, Sifu Michael Lau, and Sifu David Louie.
